With impressive box office receipts both domestically and abroad, Dhurandhar has become one of the most successful Indian films ever. This is in light of the fact that Dhurandhar was never released in theaters in Pakistan and the Gulf countries, which are typically regarded as vital markets for the worldwide profits of Hindi cinema.
The Aditya Dhar-directed movie managed to make over Rs 1300 crore abroad in spite of that. Despite the movie's theatrical ban, Dhurandhar has been trending at the top spot on OTT since its release on Netflix and, apparently, in Pakistan as well, according to HT.
Now, following Dhurandhar's worldwide Netflix release, the film has quickly climbed to the top of the streaming charts everywhere. Reportedly, in Pakistan, viewers watching Dhurandhar in large numbers are trying to understand why it has been described as “controversial”.
Screenshots showing Dhurandhar trending at number one in the films category on Netflix Pakistan surfaced on social media over the weekend, placing the , Akshaye Khanna-starrer ahead of other Bollywood titles such as Tere Ishk Mein and Haq, as well as The Big Fake.
Danish Pandor, who portrayed Akshaye Khanna's brother Uzair Baloch in Dhurandhar, discussed the movie's alleged ban in Gulf countries. He exclusively told , "It should be released. That's what I believe. I spoke to people as well, but I don't know the real reason behind it not being released in the UAE or a lot of Gulf countries. I don't know the specific reason behind it. However, the movie would have been huge if it had also opened there.
"But I don't know the reason. I'm hoping it comes out soon. Many people, including my friends, have messaged me to ask why Dhurandhar is not being released in the Gulf. He went on, "Maybe they should actually wait for the movie to stream on Netflix. I have no reason, but I would definitely want them to watch it, but I don't know how." I hope it also releases there [in the Gulf].
Dhurandhar Part 2 is slated for release on March 19, 2026, clashing with Yash's Toxic at the box office.
