"Get ready..." Donald Trump threatens legal action against Trevor Noah following Greenland and Epstein's joke at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
New DelhiAfter making fun of US President Donald Trump during the 68th Grammy Awards, host Trevor Noah became the target of a political backlash. Noah brought up Trump's reference in the Epstein files and connected it to a long-standing joke about Greenland.
Trump swiftly responded sharply to the remark made during Sunday night's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, saying that he was prepared to "have some fun" with Noah. Additionally, he proposed that attorneys be dispatched to him due to what he claimed were false and defamatory statements.
What did Trevor Noah say while hosting the Grammy Awards that caused Trump to react?
It all began when Noah congratulated Billie Eilish on winning the Grammy for song of the year before focusing on Trump. "There you have it—the year's best song! Congratulations, Billie Eilish. Whoa. Every artist wants that Grammy, nearly as much as Trump wants Greenland. Which makes sense because, since Epstein's gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton," Noah said, as reported by Variety.
He then reminded the audience that, after six stints as emcee, this was his last year hosting the Grammy Awards. "As I mentioned, this is my final year! "What will you do about it?" Noah continued.
Rapper Nicki Minaj, a strong Trump supporter who did not attend the awards ceremony, was also criticized by Noah during his opening monologue earlier in the evening. "Nicki Minaj is not present. Noah stated, "She is still at the White House with Donald Trump, talking about very important issues."
Donald Trump responds to Trevor Noah, the Grammy host
In a quick response, Trump attacked the Grammy Awards and their host harshly on his social media platform, Truth Social. "The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is fortunate that this trash is no longer a part of their broadcasts. The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as at the Low Ratings Academy Awards," Trump wrote.
The US President went on to reject Noah’s remarks linking him to Epstein Island, insisting that the statement was incorrect. "WRONG!!! I can't speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight's false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media," Trump added.
Trump intensified the assault by referring to Noah as "a total loser" and threatening legal action. "It appears that I will be sending my attorneys to sue this untalented, pitiful, dope of an M.C. for a substantial sum of money. How did that all work out? Ask Little George Slopadopolus and others. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I'm going to have some fun with you!" he concluded.
The latest developments in the Epstein case
The conversation took place in the context of Jeffrey Epstein's renewed attention following the US Justice Department's Friday release of more than three million pages of documents pertaining to the convicted sex offender, including 2,000 videos and 1,80,000 photos.
References to Epstein Island refer to Little Saint James, a private island in the US Virgin Islands that Epstein owned until his death. Epstein is said to have committed suicide in a New York jail in August 2019, one month after being accused of federal sex trafficking.
