After defeating the West Indies in their most recent Super Six match in Group 1 at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, Australia advanced to the U19 World Cup 2026 semifinals. In a high-scoring match, the Australians defeated the Windies by 22 runs thanks to a century from Oliver Peake and a four-wicket haul from Charles Lachmund.

The Australians made 314/7 in their 50 overs, with captain Peake smashing 109 from 117 balls and opener Nitesh Samuel scoring 56 from 74 deliveries. Will Malajczuk, the other opener, made a 30-ball 48 after hitting the fastest U19 World Cup century earlier in the competition.

Peake led the way as he stood tall despite the openers' 73-run partnership. He led the innings and did a great job maneuvering the play. Nine fours and one six were part of his stroke-filled knock.

In the meantime, Jayden Draper finished strongly with 29 from 23 balls and wicketkeeper batter Alex Lee Young scored 45 from 47 deliveries.

Australia was scared by the West Indies, who were on the verge of pursuing the total. The Windies hitters, who scored 292/9 but fell short of the goal by 22 runs, made contributions left, right, and center.

Wicketkeeper batter Jewel Andrew scored 44 from 38 deliveries, while opener Zachary Carter scored 64 from 42 balls. With an anchoring knock of 62 from 97 balls, captain Joshua Dorne kept his team in the hunt. Kunal Tilokani and Jonathan van Lange also made good contributions, but their efforts were in vain.

The Australians have advanced to the tournament semifinals with this victory. They will wait for their Group 2 opponent as they are the first to advance to the final four.
