With less than two weeks until the T20 World Cup, there is no end to the drama in the cricket world. A team has already been replaced over the weekend, and the massive event is set to begin in India and Sri Lanka on February 7. Following Bangladesh's elimination from the World Cup, Pakistan also threatened to withdraw, with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi declaring that the team would do as their government directs.

After meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Naqvi even tweeted on X that the matter's final decision would be made either on Friday or Monday. Instead of withdrawing from the entire T20 World Cup in protest of Bangladesh's elimination from the competition, there are rumors that Pakistan is considering skipping the major match against India. But before the major event, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is not in the mood for any more drama.

Pakistan has already been informed by the international cricket organization of the serious consequences if they take any drastic measures during the World Cup. "The meeting with Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz (Shahbaz) Sharif was fruitful. I told him about the ICC issue, and he instructed us to find a solution while keeping all possibilities open. In a social media post on X, Naqvi stated, "It was decided that the final decision will be taken either on Friday or next Monday."

Pakistan may be completely barred from international and continental competitions by the ICC.

Pakistan is likely to face severe sanctions from the ICC, which will go far beyond the PCB's financial losses. They will be in violation of their participation agreement with the ICC if they boycott the World Cup or the India match. The cricket organization has the authority to bar the men in green from participating in international and continental competitions such as the Asia Cup and World Cup. The withdrawal of NOCs for foreign players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is also likely, and Pakistan may be cut off from the global cricket community.

For the same reason, despite a number of accusations, Pakistan may ultimately play the World Cup in accordance with the schedule because they have no reason to boycott because they are playing at a location of their choosing.
